Aim of the group

To provide mutual support and friendship to people affected by breast cancer, who are newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment or who have recovered from breast cancer; also to their partners, friends and families.

Objectives of the group

To provide a forum for women to share their experiences and emotions about the breast cancer journey. To reach out to newly diagnosed people to offer mutual support. To provide a telephone support service to anyone who enquires, offering support and signposting to professional sources of help.

Activities

We meet once a month in an informal setting to share experiences and news;

We invite occasional expert speakers; we publicise our group in doctors' surgeries, village notice boards, library, the local hospital and any other appropriate location in order to reach the maximum number of women.

Who is this group for?

Women who are, or have experienced breast cancer; we also welcome female friends, particularly at early meetings; telephone support is freely available to males, partners, family, friends and carers.

We’re sorry we can’t welcome men suffering from breast cancer to our meetings, but they are free to contact us and we will do our best to help them find support and information.
